A child’s spiritual life is the most important aspect of child-rearing to be handled with great care and diligence. Our children’s ministry team is committed to assist parents in this awesome task by instructing them in the Bible, discipling them in true Christian attitudes and actions, and leading them to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.

Beginning in September 2006, and during the school year, children attend Sunday School at 8:00 a.m. during the first worship service, 9:30 a.m. during the second worship service, or at 11:15 a.m. during the third worship service.

Teachers use age-appropriate educational materials that feature the major Bible stories and basic components of the Christian faith.

These lessons are reinforced through the activities, crafts, singing, prayer, Bible verse memorization, and mission projects.  New students may register any Sunday morning in the various classes.   Guests are always welcome.

Students are grouped by age or grade for discipleship, including:

Nursery Program  (Newborn to 3)

Pre-K Program     (3 and 4 year olds)

Kindergarten

First Grade

Second Grade

Third Grade

Fourth Grade

Fifth and Sixth Grade Boys

Fifth and Sixth Grade Girls

Following their fifth and sixth grade years, children and families are introduced to DEC's Youth Ministry to further the child's discipleship and continue the DEC/parent partnership in growing their faith.

Teachers use age-appropriate educational materials that feature major Bible stories and basic components of the Christian faith.  These lessons are reinforced through activities, crafts, singing, prayer, Bible verse memorization, and mission projects.  All classrooms are located in the lower level.  New students may register any Sunday morning at the Children's Ministry Information Desk on the lower level, or by contacting Sue Spinney, Children's Minister during the week.

If you would like more information on Sunday School, wish to volunteer your time as a teacher or helper, or would like to be added to the mailing list please contact Children's Minister Sue Spinney via , or call (603) 868-1027 extension 203.

Lots of young families attend Durham Evangelical Church and, in order to get the most out of the worship service, many parents (and grandparents!) entrust their infants and toddlers to our capable and loving nursery staff.  You are welcome to bring your little ones to our nursery so that you can relax and enjoy the worship service. Be assured that if your little one needs you at any time, we have a system in place to notify you discreetly and immediately.

Our nursery is located to the left of the upper level main entrance, just a few steps away from the worship center.

DEC also provides a Parent’s Room where nursing or restless babies can stay with their parent while they view and hear the service. Please feel free to make use of this room whenever the need arises. Look for it on the left when entering the worship center.

Nursery is provided during all worship services for infants and toddlers aged birth to 3 year-olds.  Our nursery is located to the left of the upper level main entrance.  DEC also provides a Parent's Room where nursing or restless babies may stay with mom or dad in a separate room while still being able to see and hear the worship service.

Special Parking Spaces are available for new or expectant moms in the upper lot, near the main entrance.

Vacation Bible School is a one-week adventure held each summer for kindergarteners through those students entering sixth grade.  A fun-filled week of Bible stories, music, skits, recreation, and crafts!  Look for specific details in late spring.

If you would like more information on our Children’s Ministry, wish to join our team, or would like to be added to the mailing list please contact Children's Minister Sue Spinney via , or call (603) 868-1027 extension 203.
