Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD.
Psalm 134:2
Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify
you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your
name I will lift up my hands.
Psalm 63:3-4

PSALM 150
Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his
sanctuary;
Praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts
of power;
Praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with
the sounding of the trumpet,
Praise him with the harp and lyre,
Praise him with
tambourine and dancing,
Praise him with the strings and flute,
Praise him with the
clash of cymbals,
Praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has
breath
praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.

Maybe you're asking yourself, "What is a church service
like at DEC?" Or maybe, "Why do they do what they do
during DEC services?" You're not alone. Read on. The
answers may surprise you.
Most Sundays, there are a many 1st-, 2nd-
and 3rd-time guests in DEC services. We try
to be sensitive to the concerns and questions these
guests may have.
What is a DEC service like?
Our services tend to run about 1 hour 15 minutes long.
We worship using contemporary songs of worship
(including some we've written ourselves) as well as some
of the familiar hymns of the faith. You'll hear drums,
guitars, flutes, saxophones and more lead you through a
time of musical worship, often followed by a 30-minute
message from the Bible by one of our pastors. Many
people will fill out & submit a Communication Card
during the service, where comments, requests & random
thoughts can be shared with the pastors. We encourage
our guests to fill out a card & drop it in the offering
basket when it passes by instead of giving a financial
gift.
Why do you tell guests at DEC we don't have to put
money in the offering baskets?
We feel the offering is an act of worship and a
declaration of our gratitude and dependence on God, and
for those who call DEC their church home, giving back to
God this way is a wonderful opportunity to worship him
with our resources.
However, just as you would never charge a guest at your
home to share a meal with you, we want guests at DEC to
TAKE something with them when they leave the service,
and to do so free of charge.
How should I dress and act when I come to church?
Come as you are! We believe that what we all need is to
be real with God and with each other. So what you wear
is really not that important - just that you bring your
heart (whatever state you're in!) to God.
When you come, you'll find many kinds of people here -
none of whom are perfect! - so you'll fit right in.
Young families, singles, teens, empty-nesters, college
students and grandparents - all just doing life
together, believing, belonging and becoming what God
wants for us. So come on in, and let's discover God
together.
